Description

What is Bacteriostatic Water?

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. It is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilized research peptides in multi-use vials, because the benzyl alcohol inhibits microbial growth after the septum has been punctured.

Product: Bacteriostatic Water (0.9% benzyl alcohol)
Form: Sterile solution in sealed vial
Category: Reconstitution supplies

Laboratory Use

Used to reconstitute lyophilized peptides into stock solutions of known concentration, allowing multiple withdrawals from the same vial under sterile technique. Benzyl alcohol can be incompatible with some peptides and cell-based assays; check compatibility with your protocol, and use sterile water or another diluent where required. See our bacteriostatic water reconstitution guide.

Handling and Storage

Store unopened at controlled room temperature, protected from light. After first puncture, keep refrigerated and discard within the period stated in your own protocol, commonly 28 days. Do not use if the solution is cloudy, discolored or contains particles, or if the seal is damaged.

Important Notice

For laboratory research use only. This product is not a medicine and is not intended for human or veterinary use.
